| Description or Comments |
| 1969 Chevrolet Camaro
This is a Lemans Blue 1969 Camaro X-44 car with documented YENCO all aluminum 496 cubic inch big block.
The transmission is a turbo 400 anf the rear differential is a 3.73 posi 12 bolt.
The trim package includes YENKO striping, cowl hood an American Racing rims on an otherwise standard vehicle just as the cars prepared by YENKO Chevrolet were delivered.
YENKO invoices on the engine and dyno sheets are included with this vehicle.
The engine in this car was bought "complete" from Yenko. It was not a block only purchase that someone bolted their heads intake and internals to make up an engine. The documentation of the engine even lists the J&D machine shop that Yenko used exclusively for his machine work. The block and heads still have the original machine shop ID stampings applied when the engine was bought new. The engine has ALL of the original internals except cam, lifters, push rods and rocker arms. Originally from Yenko it was fitted with a Comp Cams flat tappet hydraulic as listed on the documentation. It now has a Hydraulic roller cam in it. All correct brackets and deep groove pulleys were used to install the engine.
The buzz words for cars like this are clone, tribute and recreation.
Clone suggests that a being or thing is identical in every way to that it was cloned from.
This YENKO “clone” looks identical to a YENKO “SUPER CAR”, however was given an extra dose of super from YENKO with 496 cubic inches.
To say tribute car suggests that this car was built in honor of a greater more powerful YENKO original. While the exterior of the engine in this car appears to be a Z-L1 the horsepower, torque, and cubic inches surpasses YENKO S/C’s and Z-L1 cars.
There again, recreation misses the mark because of the extra thrill that comes with this car surpasses the “what it is” of an original YENKO or ZL1 car.
This is a excellent car to show, a powerful car to drive and a rare drive train no longer obtainable from Don Yenko Chevrolet.
Oh yea, when you have the hood up at your next car show, Don Yenko had “YENKO” cast into the aluminum block for all to see! |
